What are the basics of breathing and trigger control?

Take a normal breath, let half of it out, and pause naturally as the sights settle.

Press the trigger straight back with steady, increasing pressure until it breaks; do not slap it or jerk. Follow through by holding the sight picture for a full second after the shot, especially with spring piston guns where the pellet has not left the barrel yet. The whole sequence should be calm and repeatable. Breathing and trigger control are the two largest sources of avoidable shot-to-shot variation.
