Are Airguns Legal in Honduras?
Yes, with conditions.
Generally legal, but with real rules to follow, usually age verification and, in some places, a low-power threshold.
Tier 3: Moderate
Threshold-based licensing: a permit-free band for low-power airguns, with a licence required above it.

Before you buy or sell
- Foreign visitors should not assume resident firearm/weapon rules apply to them.
- Since 2019, air guns with firearm-like effect need a firearm licence and registration (Decreto 101-2018, Art. 19(1)).
- Public carry or defensive use would be high risk.
The rules in detail
Classification
Unclear
Decreto 101-2018, Ley de Control de Armas de Fuego, Municiones, Explosivos y Materiales Relacionados (in force 8 May 2019; replaced the 2000 law), Art. 19(1): 'arma de fuego' includes any similar weapon whose projectile is propelled by non-igneous gas, mechanical, electrical or similar pressure 'que cause los efectos de un arma de fuego.' Air guns with firearm-like effect come within the firearm definition, but Art. 119 separately names 'armas de aire' among weapons that do not qualify as firearms and leaves their rules to a Security Ministry executive agreement (not yet located).
Age rule
21+
21+ for any weapons licence (Decreto 101-2018, Art. 33(1)). Licences go only to Honduran nationals, legal residents and registered entities (Art. 32(6)).
Possession
Variable
Air guns that 'cause the effects of a firearm' fall inside the firearm definition (Decreto 101-2018, Art. 19(1)) and need a tenencia licence and registration like firearms. The law sets no calibre or energy line; Art. 119 leaves other air guns to a Security Ministry executive agreement that was not located. Until the Secretaría de Seguridad confirms otherwise, treat pellet and PCP guns as licence-required.
Transfer / sale
Variable
Commercial sale/import/export of compressed-gas rifles/pistols and related pellets may be supervised by police under the law. Treat private transfers as locally regulated.
Transport
Variable
Transport rules are issued by regulation for weapons, ammunition, and explosives. For airguns, use cased/unloaded transport and avoid public carry.
Authority
National statute
National law administered by the Security Secretariat / police, with firearm registration and ballistic registry for firearms.

Visitor procedure
Do not import an airgun without written clearance from the Secretaría de Seguridad and customs. Since 2019 the firearm definition covers gas-propelled weapons with firearm-like effect, and weapons licences are limited to nationals and legal residents (Decreto 101-2018, Arts. 19, 32).
