The rules in detail
Classification
Unclear
Firearms and Ammunition Law No. 2 of 1998 requires licensing to acquire, carry, transport, sell, import, export, trade in or manufacture arms and ammunition. Art. 1 excludes from 'weapon' hunting guns and 'toy' air rifles and pistols that fire a projectile by spring pressure only. PCP and CO2 airguns are not excluded. Converted air-powered and airsoft guns have been a documented security concern in the West Bank/Israel context.
Age rule
21+
21+ for licensed firearms (Law No. 2 of 1998, Art. 5). Art. 1 excludes toy air rifles and pistols that fire only by spring pressure from the definition of 'weapon', so no age is set for them. The law does not address PCP or CO2 airguns.
Possession
Variable
Treat airguns as not ordinary consumer/traveler items. Arms possession/transport without a competent-authority licence carries penalties.
Transfer / sale
Variable
Sale, import, export, trade, and manufacture of arms/ammunition without a licence are punishable. Airgun trade/import should be avoided unless officially classified and licensed.
Transport
Variable
Transport only with competent-authority licence; otherwise avoid entirely.
Authority
