Juneau Hunter Education Shooting Complex
The Juneau Hunter Education Shooting Complex (JHESC) is a first-class educational and recreational shooting facility operated by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game at 5670 Montana Creek Road. The complex serves Juneau and surrounding Southeast Alaska communities with a bullet-trap system for handguns up to .44 magnum, rimfire rifles, pistol caliber carbines, and air rifles. The priority use is hunter education and firearms training, with public shooting hours and marksmanship programs running alongside. Hunter education field days at JHESC use the .22 or air rifle for proficiency shooting under ADF&G's standardized hunter ed curriculum. Volunteer Range Safety Officers support staff in maintaining a safe, family-friendly atmosphere.
